General Instructions


  • Obtain a parking pass from the information desk in the main lobby. Parking passes will be issued to each employee free of charge. This pass must be visible in the vehicle, preferably by hanging it from the rear view mirror.
  • Employees with disabilities must display either an accessible parking license plate or placard (permanent blue) to use any of the accessible stalls available.
  • Employees with a temporary disability that will imcapacitate them for less than two weeks can obtain a temporary permit from Human Resources. the temporary permit can be renewed for another two weeks with a physician's recommendation. This will allow them to park in the visitor area. You may not park in an accessible parking stall designated by the blue and white accessible paint. (Note: It is illegal for anyone to park in an accessible space with proper identification-license plate/placard-on their vehicle if they are not the person in need of this accessible service).
  • Parking in all lots is at the owner's risk. The Department of Human Services of the State of Utah assumes no liability for parking in these lots. It is permissible to move vehicles to the visitor's lot (North Parking Upper Lot) after 3:30 p.m., if an employee is working late or concerned about safety.

Parking Lot Detailed Instructions:


North Parking Upper Level:


  • Visitor Parking-- 62 stalls for clients, patrons, Division boards, and employees with short term disabilities who have obtained a permit. Division boards will have designated stalls on Board meeting days, please inform the information desk so that stalls can be marked. This is 2 hour parking only. If you will be longer, please see South Parking Lot.
  • Building Employees may park in this lot after 3:30 p.m. for safety reasons. No employee parking or contract employee parking in the designated visitor stalls is allowed between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
  • Handicapped Accessible Parking-- 5 stalls. Must have proper handicapped indentification.
  • 10 Minute Load/Unload Parking-- 6 stalls. For employees or delivery agencies, short term only.
  • 30 Minute Employee Parking-- 6 stalls. For employees who will need parking for less than 30 minutes to conduct business or load/unload clients, etc.

North Parking Lower Level:


  • Motor Pool Parking-- stalls are designated as "Motor Pool". These are for parking motor pool cars assigned to the Administration Building only.
  • Employee Assigned Parking-- stalls assigned to Divisions/Offices will be designated by the Director signs.
  • Building Maintenance Storage-- a few stalls are used for snow removal equipment, etc.

West Parking Lot Upper and Lower Levels:


  • Building Employee Parking-- on both levels. First come, first served.
  • Open Parking-- all hours
  • Reserved Stalls-- none.

South Parking Lot:


State Employee Parking -- first come, first served, open parking, all hours. There are no reserved stalls. This parking lot is also used for overflow building employee parking and all day trainings/meetings. You may obtain a parking permit from Vicky Ford at the Information Desk.

After Hours Parking By Employees:


The North Parking Lot, West Parking Lot and South Parking Lot are available to employees for after hours parking with the display of the DHS Parking Pass. The Department does rent our parking facilities for after hour event parking, but the vendor will not charge employees when the DHS Parking Pass is displayed. Please let the vendor know that you are an employee and show the parking pass to avoid confusion and problems.

Liability:


Employees and visitors park at their own risk. The Department of Human Services and the State of Utah are not responsible for vandalism, theft or other such acts to employee vehicles, or noon-employee vehicles during business or non-business hours. Building Security will make periodic patrols through the parking lots during normal business hours to reduce the possibility of such acts, but no liability on the part of the Department or the State is assumed.

Department Board members should park in the North Parking Upper Ramp area.
